The Demo Reel

Your demo reel has one job: to get you in the room.

1.

The Demo Reel proves you can act on camera.

A headshot creates interest. Your demo reel proves you can deliver a believable, compelling performance on screen.

2.

The Demo Reel helps people imagine casting you.

A strong reel instantly communicates your type, presence, range, and unique energy. If it sparks a casting director’s imagination, it’s done its job.

3.

The Demo Reel auditions for you when you’re not in the room.

Agents, managers, casting directors, and filmmakers often see your reel before they meet you. In many ways, your reel is your first audition. Make sure it’s a great representation of your talent.

4.

The Demo Reel strengthens representation and demonstrates professionalism.

For agents and managers, a great demo reel can outweigh a thin résumé. It provides proof of your talent, makes you easier to submit, and gives your representatives stronger materials to sell you effectively.

A great demo reel makes CDs, agents, managers and myself think, "We gotta get this actor in the room."

I made new demo reels for the actors below and Here’s what happened…

  • Lacey acquired her first agent 3-weeks after I made her new demo reel.
  • Lori acquired her first agent 2-weeks after posting her new demo reel.
  • Caitlin, a highly accomplished actress, posted her new demo reel to Actors Access and two top CDs she’d never worked with, called her in.
  • Samantha, a resident of North Carolina posted her new demo reel to Actors Access and after two weeks, got an audition request from a top Los Angeles, CD. She auditioned and booked her first feature film.

How Breakthru builds a DEMO REEL that gets you called in…

1. IDENTIFY

Together we’ll identify 3–4 scenes that showcase your authentic range and the roles you’re most likely to book professionally—based on your age, type, unique casting profile, and most importantly… who you are.

2. CREATE

Gil will rewrite existing material—or write an original scene from scratch—designed specifically to reveal your most compelling, memorable, and castable work.

3. PRE-PRODUCTION

We’ll prepare every detail before the cameras roll: wardrobe suggestions, character looks, rehearsals, scheduling, and everything you need to arrive confident, relaxed, and camera-ready.

4. PRODUCTION

Experience what it’s like to work with a professional director. Gil directs your performance exactly as he would on a feature film or television series, with experienced readers, multiple takes, and a collaborative process designed to capture your very best work.

5. POST-PRODUCTION

Your scenes are professionally color graded, refined, and polished so every creative decision strengthens your performance and keeps the audience’s attention exactly where it belongs—on you.

6. EDITORIAL

This is where everything comes together. As a director and storyteller, Gil shapes every moment, every cut, every reaction, and every beat into a cinematic demo reel that doesn’t just show your acting—it tells the story of why you’re castable.

THE RESULT:

A powerful, cinematic demo reel of approximately 2-min 20-sec that elevates your castability and leaves casting directors, agents, producers, and directors thinking: “Bring them in. There’s something special about this actor.”
